Routes 35 & 121, Cross River
This is the County’s largest park, with 4,315 acres of varied terrain and landscapes and 35 miles of wooded trails. Many hawks and swallows fly overhead; you can glimpse the nests of bluebirds in 60 bluebird boxes; and this is one of the NY metropolitan area’s best places to see butterflies. Open year-round, daily 8am-dusk. Trailside Nature Museum: Tues.-Sun., 9am-4pm.
